Welcome to Phoenix!
House moving can make you feel deserted. But one of the country’s favorite moving companies is here to show you that there is nothing to fear in this dessert. As you have probably grown quite sick of packing, getting ready to find your own oasis, here are some things to look for in your new hometown, Phoenix AZ.
Sports: As the sixth-largest city in the US, Phoenix is home to franchises in all major sports: Phoenix Suns (NBA), Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), Arizona Cardinals (NFL) and Phoenix Coyotes (NHL). The city also plays host to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, played each February. It is the best-attended event on the PGA Tour, averaging more than 500,000 spectators.
History: The history of this southwestern city harkens back to the Hohokam Indian tribes that inhabited what is now the Greater Phoenix area as early as 300 BC. They created the first major urban civilization in the Salt River Valley and developed a canal system that’s still in use today. Many of the city’s museums–including the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park and the Heard Museum–commemorate this ancient history.
Nature: Red rocks, hot sand and cactus you have likely only seen in cartoons, Phoenix is famous for appreciating and respecting nature, both through its parks system and its energy conservation programs. Famous for mountain biking, rock-climbing and hiking, places like McDowell Mountain Regional Park and the Verde River Trail connect you with the natural beauty of Phoenix.
As your moving company, we hope these fun facts help you settle into your new home. Once our movers have left and you complete your moving and storage projects, let the exploration of your new backyard begin. And once again, welcome to Phoenix, AZ.
